Description
Our second release of Nero d’Avola. Single vineyard from Ricca Terra Farms in Barmera, South Australia. Hand-picked, wild-fermented and matured in aged oak for eight months. Unfined, unfiltered, minimum sulphur for protection.
Light brick-red colour. Aromas of dark cherry and strawberry… dusty talc, smoky graphite. Exotic black plum, savoury black olive. Herbal notes of lavender, sage & oregano; eastern spices of cinnamon & cardamom. Earth, leather and spice… forest floor; tar and char.
Red-fruits dominate the palate – juicy strawberry, sour cherry, sweet roasted tomato; also baked quince, rhubarb and plum. Eastern spice and white pepper. Soft, light style that is best enjoyed with food.
This wine is a unwooded, light-bodied, and makes the perfect summer red. Delightful.

A bright, fresh red from Brad Wehr of Margaret River’s Wine By Brad. Raspberry aromas are clean and primary, and it’s the same in the mouth where it’s light bodied and charming. The acidity is lively and refreshing. A very attractive early-drinking red – 91 Points.

There are some interesting wines being made in the Riverland from southern Italian grape varieties, and winemaker Brad Wehr seems to be shifting it up a few gears. The wine sees 20 per cent whole bunch in the wild ferment and spends time in French and American oak.
It is brisk and crunchy with red and black fruit flavours, shows sweet and briary fruit scents and throws up decidedly peppery spice in both perfume and palate. It’s juicy, easy to drink and definitely worth the price tag.
