Yep, you heard right – Slankamenka Bela, an ancient Balkans grape variety found flourishing in the Riverland of Australia. Or Bela for short..
Handpicked grapes from Ricca Terra Farms family vineyard, wild-fermented in stainless steel tank before bottling fresh in July. Unfined, Unfiltered.
Some tropical pineapple and guava on the nose, also apple/pear – fresh and zesty. A textural palate, a touch creamy – showing stonefruit, guava, quince and nashi pear. Hints of spice and vanilla weave in and out, with a note of nuttiness. Excellent length of palate.
Enjoyed with or without food.

From the lauded grape variety of slankamenka bela, originating from the Balkans, live and direct from the Riverland and Ricca Terra Farms. Hooray! Ferments wild in tank and gets some lees work. Enhancing personality. Intrigue from Brad Wehr. Wonder where the rest of this grape variety ends up, or ended up before Brad got his surf wax and patchouli oil-covered mitts on it.
Wild array of aromas from the glass. Apple, root vegetables, kaffir lime leaf, white pepper. Curious. Texture is very appealing – slick then puckers up to talc-like mineral character. Rushes about the mouth with zingy, zesty fruit character. Really refreshing, really enjoyable wine.

Made with slancamenca bela grapes, a Balkan grape variety. Basket pressed and wild fermented in stainless steel. It’s a thrilling wine, highly aromatic and textural, with rich salty/floral characters adding excitement to the palate.
