As usual, summer heralds the release of the new Wine By Brad vintages, but this year is a little bit special.

The release of the 2012 Wine By Brad Sem Sav Blanc and 2010 Cab Merlot marks the ten year anniversary since we started this whole shebang.

It seems an age ago when we kicked off with some unwanted grapes and a head full of steam – a lot of time has passed, but not much has changed – it just got bigger!

When we released our first vintages of Sem Sav Blanc and Cab Merlot back in 2003 there was a mere 400 cases in total. The SSB sold out in a few months, with the red not far behind.

We got a kick-start during the summer of 2004/05 when we pulled a bit of good press for our second release – the 2004 Sem Sav Blanc. Firstly the The Age/Sydney Morning Herald gave it a big rap, then Gourmet Traveller magazine (Top 20 Sem Savs 2004), and later with Max Allen in The Weekend Australian – a readership of one million people.

That set the wheels in motion for increased distribution and a whole swathe of new media attention, including a plug in Rolling Stone magazine!

In 2006 came our first Gold Medals – for the 2002 red and 2005 white – and the following year our first Trophy was gleefully accepted for the 2007 Sem Sav Blanc.

2007 was also the year in which the Mantra label appeared on the scene – our slightly more stylish label (to show our serious side!), and with this we introduced a whole new range of wines.

In 2011 James Halliday finally tipped his hat to us and awarded Wine By Brad a 5-Star rating – as good as it gets.

And to today…. the wine market is a lot more competitive now of course, and there are many more quirky labels out there, but we’re still growing each year, and still winning accolades and new customers all over the shop. And, of course, we’re still having fun!

It’s been a fascinating ride – good times, challenging times – but always plenty of happy customers to let us know we’re doing good stuff!
